    1. RESOLUTION OF THE MOST CURRENT PROBLEMS

For the scan to work, you must make sure:

    1. That you've authorized access to the camera. If not, you'll need to change this in your phone's settings:
      • On iOS, go to "Settings", click on "WeCare" and check "Camera".
    2. That you've authorized the application to use cellular data. If not, you'll need to change this in your phone's settings:
      • On iOS, go to "Settings", click on "WeCare" and check "Cellular Data".
    3. That you have an internet connection, which is not necessarily the case in all supermarkets.

WeCare is currently available on the App Store in the United States only.

We plan to develop the app in other countries gradually.

At the moment you need an internet connection in order to scan because the app use AI online.

Sometimes the product shown in the app might not exactly match what you're holding β€” and that usually comes down to barcode reuse or packaging updates. In some cases, manufacturers recycle barcodes across product versions, or update ingredients without changing the code. That can lead to mismatches between what's on the label and what's in the app.

WeCare relies on barcode data plus user contributions to keep product info accurate and up to date. If something seems off, you can report it directly in the app β€” or help improve the database by submitting updated info.

If scanning suddenly stops working, it's often due to camera permission settings. Make sure WeCare has access to your camera in your phone's settings.

Or check that you have the Internet connection (WiFi or mobile Internet).

Check that you have the latest version of the application from the App Store.

Still not working? Try closing and reopening the app, or restarting your phone. Still doesn't work - try deleting and reinstalling the application. If the issue persists, reach out to our support team β€” we're here to help you get scanning again.

Try to check the list of ingredients with the scanner of the app.

WeCare aims to keep product data accurate, but sometimes labels change β€” and we don't get notified. If you notice a mismatch between what's in the app and what's on the package, it might be due to a recent formula or packaging update.

You can help by submitting a photo of the label directly in the app. That way, we can review and update the product info quickly β€” and keep the database useful for everyone.

    2. HOW WECARE APP WORKS

Just head to the App Store and search for "WeCare: Food Scanner". Tap "Download" or "Install," and you're good to go!

Once it's installed, open the app and follow the quick setup to start scanning and discovering better product choices.

Open the WeCare app and tap the scan icon β€” it'll activate your camera. Point it at the product's barcode, and the app will instantly analyze it.

You'll see a breakdown of ingredients, nutrition, and how the product compares to similar options. No typing, no guesswork β€” just scan and get the facts.

An Internet connection (WiFi or mobile 4G) is necessary in order to scan with the AI support of the app

Deleting products can be done only from the "History" screen. Deleting does not work from the "Overview" screen.

From overall history: click on the trash icon at the top right or swipe to the left on the product, then click "Delete".

In further version you'll can modify a product error yourself right in the application or you can report an error with a product to our team directly via the application. It will be corrected ASAP.

This moment, unfortunately, WeCare app doesn't allow the classification or sorting of scanned products.

This moment, unfortunately, WeCare app doesn't allow the sharing.

No, WeCare is a mobile app, and therefore can only be used from your smartphone.

WeCare is a powerful tool, but it's not perfect. Some product info might be outdated or incomplete β€” especially if a barcode has been reused or reformulated. Also, while WeCare helps you make informed choices, it doesn't replace medical advice or personalized nutrition guidance.

We're always working to improve accuracy by updating our database and listening to user feedback. If you spot something off, you can help by submitting corrections right in the app.

    3. USER ACCOUNT

Absolutly no. For ethical reasons, WeCare does not exploit or resell any user data.

No β€” WeCare does not access or store your personal photos or contact list. The app only asks for camera access so you can scan barcodes, and that's it.

Your privacy matters. WeCare is designed to give you control over your food β€” not your personal data.

Log in with the account you used to use (with the same email).

    4. FOOD CHECK – HOW WE RATE

Each food product is rated based on three key factors:

    1. Nutritional value (like sugar, salt, saturated fat, calories)
    2. Additives (presence of controversial or risky additives)
    3. Organic quality (if applicable)

These factors are combined into an overall score that helps you quickly understand how the product impacts your health β€” and whether better options are available.

WeCare's analysis of additives is based on the latest independent scientific research from trusted global health authorities. These include studies and reports from organizations like the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), ANSES (French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety), and WHO.

WeCare reviews these sources to determine whether an additive poses any known risks β€” so you can make decisions based on science, not just marketing.

Not directly. WeCare doesn't evaluate pesticide levels in individual products because that data isn't available on packaging and varies by batch and supplier.

However, the app does factor in organic certification, which typically means fewer or no synthetic pesticides. So when a product is certified organic, that's reflected positively in its overall score.

Some products in WeCare may appear without a rating if they're missing key info, like nutritional values or a full ingredient list. Without that data, we can't provide a reliable score.

We're constantly working to complete our database, and users can help by submitting photos of the packaging. Once verified, the product will be analyzed and rated.

Nutri-Score is a front-of-pack nutrition label that rates food from A (healthiest) to E (least healthy). It's calculated using a product's levels of sugar, salt, saturated fat, protein, fiber, and calories β€” per 100g or 100ml.

It's a quick way to compare similar products at a glance, and it's used as part of WeCare's overall product scoring system.

Nutri-Score is one part of WeCare's overall rating. It covers the nutritional quality of the product β€” like sugar, fat, salt, and fiber levels.

WeCare combines the Nutri-Score with two other factors:

    1. Presence of additives (and their risk levels)
    2. Organic certification, if applicable

Together, these give a more complete picture of the product's health impact β€” beyond just nutrition.

Organic products are grown without synthetic pesticides, GMOs, or artificial fertilizers. That means fewer chemical residues in your food β€” and less exposure to potentially harmful substances over time.

Some studies also suggest organic food may contain more antioxidants and nutrients. While the science is still evolving, choosing organic is one way to support cleaner farming practices and reduce intake of additives and contaminants.

WeCare bases its evaluation of aspartame on findings from independent health authorities like the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) and EFSA (European Food Safety Authority). In 2023, the IARC classified aspartame as "possibly carcinogenic," while EFSA maintained it as safe within certain limits.

Given the mixed positions, WeCare takes a cautious stance β€” flagging aspartame as a controversial additive, so you can make informed choices based on the latest science.

Additive risk ratings in WeCare are based on the latest available scientific research. When health authorities publish new findings β€” for example, reclassifying an additive as risky or harmless β€” WeCare updates the rating accordingly.

This ensures that product evaluations stay aligned with current science, not outdated assumptions. WeCare users are notified when major updates occur, so you're always making decisions based on the most recent evidence.

WeCare uses visual gauges to show the levels of key nutrients in a product β€” like sugar, salt, saturated fat, and calories β€” per 100g or 100ml. Each gauge ranges from green (low) to red (high) to help you quickly assess nutritional quality.

This lets you spot imbalances at a glance and compare products easily β€” especially when choosing between similar items on the shelf.

    5. WECARE DATABASE

The WeCare database was built by combining official sources (like USDA and Open Food Facts), brand submissions, and user contributions. When a product isn't found, users can upload label photos β€” which are then reviewed and verified before being added.

This crowdsourced model helps keep the database diverse, growing, and up to date β€” especially as new products hit the shelves.

If a product doesn't have a score in WeCare, it's usually because key information is missing β€” like nutritional values or a full ingredient list. Without that data, we can't evaluate it accurately.

You can help by uploading clear photos of the product's packaging and label. Once reviewed, the product will be updated and scored in the app.
